Man the Torpeeeedooooos

Snow forts were the greatest. It was the safest way to have a snow war before somebody got an ice ball in the face, which were always made because things got boring when you weren't raising the bar.

Equally great was towing the tobogan (sp?) behind the three wheeler. In the winter back when we actually had more than a foot of snow and it wasn't -40 every day, we'd be driving that three wheeler daily. Snow drifts were awesome and so were the paths through the woods. To make it interesting you'd drive a bit faster sometimes to see if the person you were towing behind you would hit a tree. It happened once or twice.

and to a more recent note, i'm going to court on Thursday morning. Stay Tuned!

so about that hollywood...

In highschool when I started to seriously think about film and tv, I had it in my head that I was going to Los Angeles for film school. Nothing else would give me the education I felt I needed to get my movies started rolling by 20, Academy Awards by 22 and Hall of Fame by 25. Then I wasn't accepted to the film school I applied to in Toronto and had little choice but to go to Ottawa for a General Arts course for a year to consider my options.

Why Ottawa? Pretty much the only reason was that it was closer to home and closer to the family. Family was always really close, still are, though we don't see eachother as much anymore. It seems I get home about once a month, maybe less at times depending.

Ottawa turned out to be a pretty damn good decision in the end. Met some great people, did some great projects, worked on some interesting movies and just now, a year after school, found a possible longer term job editing. It starts on Tuesday and there's 4 days of learning the art of Avid. After that, it flies into a two month probationary kind of period and from there we'll see if I've got what it takes to keep it going and make something of it.

Also, looking into volunteering at an old folks home to do some research for a script i'm writing. Should prove to be entertaining at times.

Aside from all that, i'll throw another vid up in a few days, haven't decided what yet. Perhaps the NFB doc

The Final Sliver Knudsen

Watch the video

The final and Last Sliver Knudsen in the weather series had nothing really to do with the weather at all.  It was a passing of the torch, in it's own kind of way but more, it was the ending of school.  We were going out into a workforce where we wouldn't be doing video's like this anymore.  Staying up all night AT SCHOOL of all places...while taking beer breaks every once in a while.  It was a whole lifestyle that we lived and spent a great deal of our time with the same people around.

Bobby's a pretty chill guy who turned it up for the Sliver Knudsen video's and he probably had more fun doing it than we all did watching them and laughing...and then looking over at the teacher to see her reaction.....then turning back to the tv to laugh some more...then yell, "SLIVER FUCKING KNUDSEN!"  when Bobby came around to which he's reply with a long Sliver "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"

Perhaps some day this summer another Sliver project will come around.  I can already think of a few idea's for some skits.  Maybe we'll have to make a series.

The book has powers

The book has powers, originally uploaded by jamie_derooy.

I think when I open my eyes really wide they look like lizard eyes. The eyebrows help, i'm sure and the muscle extention and all that strategically placed jazz for a wonderfully, mostly nonsensical picture.

It seems that every picture taken that night with me smiling was the utmost of gayness. I vow never to smile in a picture again. The following is a list of accepted things to do in a picture from now unto forever:

1. Crossing eyes
2. Sticking out tongue
3. stretching face in every angle
4. Big thumbs up with dork smile (only acceptable smile)
5. Rockstar pose
6. Hulk smashing
7. Pointing at obscure places and people
8. holding 1 beer, 2 beers, case of beer, people drinking beer
9. finger contorted to word "bloods"
10. pointing to my Toronto Maple Leafs shirts, hats with a thumbs up
11. whatever else sounds like a good idea at the time.

Really, it all comes together at one moment and one moment only and that's when you're there, everyone's having a good time and ready to pose. But for now my fair readers, I am never again going to smile in a picture.

Maybe it's because every time I look in a mirror, I make a face and think it looks funny (small mental capacity some time people, small things amuse me).

So anyways....Last Sliver Knudsen coming up tonight or tomorrow.

Awesome party Robin!

Genesis of Sliver Knudsen

Watch the video

Sliver Knudsen came from small beginnings.  A few choice gestures, a few choice words and a blonde moustache (first one only) I bought for another project that didn't get off the ground.  This is the first Sliver Knudsen.  From here, Sliver explored blatant swearing, semi streaking, police, the school administration and other awesome events.

Past this one, there is one last Sliver, which I'll update in a few days.  It's interesting to see the Sliver Knudsen projects now and how they evolved.  Keep in mind that they were done a few weeks apart between each new one.

With the next Sliver Knudsen will come a written Sliver Philosophy.  I'm not sure if you can leave comments on this website, but it's going directly to my blog, so feel free to drop a line and tell me what you think of this madness will ya!

Sliver Knudsen weather #3

Watch the video

The third of four.  When this episode was made, i'm pretty sure everyone was hung over from the night before, yet again, and it was well understood that Sliver Knudsen three needed to be taken to the next level of controversy.

While this one was shot, the police were called from someone who complained about what was being filmed in the park and Sliver along with a few other guys involved with this particular project were threatened with being kicked out of school.  Everything turned out ok in the end.

Crew for this one was Jack and Tom

Sliver Knudsen doing the @#$%ing weather

Watch the video

During news, we had a few great characters from The Coach doing the sports to Sliver Knudsen doing the weather. The weather was taken to a whole new level when it was made the day of news....a few hours before the show while some of us were still hung over from the night before.

There were four segments of weather that was done by the Sliver team. There was a little bit of controversy about it too towards the end as the police were called during the third Knudsen weather segment. Might post that one later on, until then here is the second Sliver, which took weather to a whole new level of hilarity.

This is Bobby Will in action
