Rabbits

Rabbits don't grow in the country around home anymore. My Opa says that he can remember looking out in the field and seeing a rabbit hopping along almost every time he was out. Now all you see is the grass blowing in the wind. Even ground hogs are a thing of the past around home. It always seems nice around that quiet area, but I guess they found something out and they're not telling us. People blame it on fishers or other predators.

Now, I've seen more rabbits in the wild in Ottawa than I ever have back home. It's like they've all migrated to the inner city. I saw one while walking home tonight and that's like the 19 rabbit i've seen in Ottawa in almost three years.

This is my theory:

Rabbits origionally owned the land. Then, at some point in history, Fishers came in and disturbed the balance between predator and prey, so the Rabbits all had to get together and decide what they were going to do. Eventually they decided they had no choice but to submit. It turned out that the Fishers didn't really like eating Rabbits, that they would rather having those juicy Ground Hogs.

So the Fishers made a deal with the Rabbits. The Fishers said, "If you all move into this one area, we'll call it, OTTAWA, we'll leave you be and that land can be yours." The Rabbits didn't really want to move there, but they knew that if they didn't, they would all be killed. So the Rabbits made their long pilgrimage to Ottawa.

Nowadays Rabbits don't live in the country anymore unless they are pets. They dwell in Ottawa and wonder why things happened the way they did. The Fishers had taken over and they were now too powerful to overcome. Though to this very day, the Rabbits still believe that one day, things will right themselves and they will drive the Fishers and their offers for no taxes out of their lands because in the end, these lands were made for Rabbits.

The Service

In the morning, I know i've got enough sleep when I remember dreams. Last nigth was one of those nights and I hadn't had one for two weeks before that. Tonight was the second night in a row that I saw my cousins play broomball and that's more than I've watched in the past ten years. It looks like a fun game to play.

There are only two shows left this year that I am producing. They are as follows:

THE SERVICE. is a drama that dwells deep in the Canadian secret service where a few agents are chasing the trail of a rogue agent who is trying to get out of the country. The rogue agent kills some of the agents, and it is all covered up because the entire ordeal is deemed Classified. This story is based on one of the Agents following the rogue agent is against the idea of the deaths being covered up.

THE LATE NIGHT HICK SHOW. This is the fun one this year. It's a late night talk show formatted show hosted by rednecks. So really it's just a bunch of people in class wearing fake teeth who talk and act like hillbillies. I produced this show last year too and it was popular enough to have a sequal appear, so I decided to bring it back.

It's getting close to closing time here. Going to bed for one more night's rest and then it's church in the morning then back to Ottawa. So pretty much school for almost three days straight until i get my first break.

Back to the Shire

Going back home is always great. Back home is a small town where everyone knows almost everyone else. It's like the Shire almost. It’s a small town area about ten kilometers off of the St. Laurence River where back in the fifties; they widened the river so they could send bigger ships down to farther harbors. It’s a nice place that’s quite peaceful most of the time. Almost one half of my whole family lives in a small town there. I’m looking forward to seeing them all and it will be even better to get out of Ottawa for a few days.

We went out tonight to listen to some Reggae. The guy we saw play was a legend there at Babylon. He was in a wheelchair and I had found out that he had been in a car accident. When he took the stage, it was a brilliant moment. All of the people in that packed place who was tight with the music were having a great time and if that will be the only night I ever spent at Babylon, I’d have good memories of it.

I’m going to talk to the people who are heading down to Montreal if I can head down with them this coming Wednesday. It will rock to see what the CBC thinks of our rough cut. Also this coming week, The Corporation is coming out on DVD which rules and I’ll definitely be picking that up on Tuesday.

I’ve became accustomed to writing my post in MS WORD first to check for errors, which helps more because I still feel a bit intoxicated. Told a lot of people I met tonight that I am a filmmaker, which was fun. I may have told a small white lie when I said that I worked with Steven Spielberg on his upcoming movie War of the Worlds, but I think I was pretty convincing. Haha, classic.

Might hook up with some old friends from my old summer job this weekend too. If I do, that’ll be cool too.

This weekend would also rock even more if I could get down to Quebec to see my family down there. If not this weekend, hopefully I can sometime soon

Back Again after Tech Issues

Had a few technical problems these past few weeks, haven't been able to update. By technical problems I really mean I lost my password and had to start over. I finally got the time to do it NOW.

I started working on my demo reel last night. I'm used three major things I've worked on so far this year. First, my Gangsters Drama second was the short documentary about the Food Bank in Ottawa followed by the Bush Protest from a few months back.

Thursdays have come to be a night of drinking at Marshy's. A local bar that sells beer cheap, but only when you buy the team pitcher. The staff there always seems to get angry at our group because there are some people who don't tip. They remain the only place where I've heard employee’s angrily detail their frustration of not being appreciated.

It looks like I may be heading back to Montreal next week for my rough-cut viewing of the Short Doc at the CBC building there. It's coming along well and there is still a chance of us getting on the two biggest Canadian TV Networks. We're in the contest to have it aired on CBC, but the Ottawa branch of CTV may be interested as well. Though for that, we'll need permission from the National Film Board, because after all, they do own the Short Doc we've made.

In the last few days, the earliest I’ve gone to bed was 3am. It seems that I go for a few days almost straight until I start to feel burnt out, then I have a day and a half to catch up and then it all starts again.

JUST A FEW WEEKS UNTIL VEGAS.
